The
Chieftans played to over 600 people in Keadue Church,
the O'Carolan Harp Festival went very well and this year it was
opened
by Cardinal Cathal B. Daly, who's ancestors hail from the area.
The Festival celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. Among
the many
attractions throughout the festival, none of which could have
taken place without the help of the local businesses, shops, pubs
and accommodation owners; kids were captivated by a magic show,
fire breathing and many other events for all ages. Business people
made sure that every visitor was welcomed and looked after. The
organisers who always prepare in advance have to be given credit
for the work and as you read this they are already preparing for
the O'Carolan Festival 2003. Below is just a sample of what the
festival had in store for locals and visitors.
WoodTurner,
Vintage Car display, Folk Dancing group from Sweden
and of course the one and only group, The Chieftans were just some
of the many delights experienced by the many visitors to this well
known Festival. If you were there drop us a line by e-mail to tynansean@eircom.net.or
