The
Tidy Towns awards has been running for the last 44 years. In that time
many towns and villages throughout the country have been awarded the
status of tidiest town/village. Keadue entered the competition about
20 years ago. Over the years Keadue has done itself proud on many occasions.
Winning the Tidiest town in Ireland in 1993 was only the beginning.
Many times this little village has scored well in what is a tough competition. With over 700 towns/villages competing, the competition is nail-biting. Special
Credit must go to the people of Keadue for their outstanding achievement
in this National Tidy Towns Competition. A special commendation should
go to Padraig Noone and Peter McNiff without who's totally voluntary
work throughout the year Keadue would almost certainly not have won
any award of any description.
