Our Parish is some fifty square miles in area which is quite large in area by Irish standards.
Our population, though, is small, being some 950 persons in all. This is hill country really.
Kilronan Mountain and Corrie Mountain occupy over half of the Parish.

The land is not very good except in a few places.
But we live happy lives here because we don't have to endure the pressures and dangers of large town life.
Many families have small farms where they keep some cattle and have sheep up in the hills but they also have part-time or full-time jobs besides. It really is a great environment in which to rear a family.
Traditional family values are still, by and large, alive and well.
We like to meet and welcome strangers from other parts of Ireland but especially from overseas. We love to hear about how people live in other lands.
Of course we have family friends and relations all over the world because we have always loved to travel. Often we went overseas because of necessity eg. Famine, unemployment etc. Nowadays we continue to travel and explore other countries because we like to meet new people. I suppose Irish people tend to be wanderers by nature because we are on an island off the West of Europe. Island people tend to be seafarers, adventurers and travellers.

Our Parish may not have the best land or much industry but we have one of the most scenic and historical parishes in Ireland. Our Lakes, rivers and hills give us very spectacular scenery. The waters are still pollution free and have plenty of fish.
Bird-life is plentiful if often quite noisy.
Sadly most rivers and lakes in Ireland are dying from pollution and wildlife is getting scarcer all the time. So far, we have escaped this pollution plague which seems to go along with so called "development". We do , of course, have the odd rogue who tries to use our mountains as his/her own private dump. If we find out who they are we make up parcels and deliver their rubbish back to them on their own front lawns. It works! If you have any original ideas on how to discourage rubbish pests we'd love to hear from you. Browse through our Site and let us know what you think by signing Our GuestBook. Thank You.
